Listing photo guide
A recent smartphone is enough; what matters most is the light and how tidy the room is at the moment of the photo.
Light above all
Shoot during the day, curtains open, lights on as a complement if the room is dark. Avoid direct flash, which flattens volumes.
Tidy before shooting, not after
A tidy room can be photographed in a few minutes; a cluttered one needs after-the-fact edits that never fix everything.
Frame from a corner of the room
Standing in a corner, at chest height, shows more of the space than a photo taken from the middle of the room.
One photo per use, not per piece of furniture
One photo of the made bed, one of the clear kitchen counter, one of the clean bathroom: better than ten photos of the same angle.
Review the photos once a year
A changed piece of furniture or a repainted room justifies new photos; see also the guide to writing an effective listing.
