Guest home safety checklist
A few simple points, to check once or twice a year, that reassure guests and prevent the most common incidents.
Detection
[ ] Smoke detector present and battery tested within the last twelve months
[ ] Local emergency number displayed in the welcome booklet
First aid
[ ] First aid kit accessible and complete
[ ] Fire extinguisher or fire blanket in the kitchen
Electricity and gas
[ ] No exposed wires or damaged sockets
[ ] Gas valve accessible and identified if the property uses one
Access and exits
[ ] Windows and balconies with a working lock, especially on upper floors
[ ] A clear exit in case of emergency, never blocked by furniture
Log these checks in the property inventory to keep track of the last check date.
