How to respond to guest reviews

A review reply speaks as much to the guest who wrote it as to those who will read the listing afterwards.

On a positive review

A simple, personalised thank-you (mentioning a detail of the stay) is enough; no need for long sentences.

On a mixed review

Acknowledge the point raised without over-justifying, and mention if something has been fixed since. Future guests mostly read how you react, more than the issue itself.

On a negative review

Stay factual and courteous, even if you disagree. A calm reply reassures more than a negative review worries, as long as you never respond in a confrontational tone.

Don't reply in the heat of the moment

If a review upsets you, wait a night before replying. A reply reread with a clear head is almost always better.
